Fifty millimetres of hand-turned wood on a long sterling silver spiga chain. Pick it up and the sphere is the first thing you feel: round, smooth, heavier than you expect. Put it on and the chain settles against the body. The sphere rests at the sternum, warm and specific.
The largest piece in the Gaia collection. In bubinga the grain is dramatic and deep. In walnut it is warm. In sycamore it is quieter, almost pale. Different versions of the same bold idea.
Designer's Note
‘Fifty millimetres feels excessive until it doesn’t. The simplicity brings it back and the giant sphere gives you something worth wearing. I made this piece because I wanted to see how large the form could go and still be jewellery rather than sculpture. This is the answer.’
